Proton Persona
Proton Persona is a compact car which was introduced by Malaysian car manufacturer, Proton in 2007. The Persona had successfully replaced saloon variant of Proton Wira. Proton Persona sits directly beside Proton Persona. The difference is just being one a sedan and one a hatchback. Its gen 2 counterpart is still being manufactured in Malaysia but will be superseded by Proton Preve.
It is available as a sedan and based upon platform also shared the Proton Gen-2 and Proton Satria Neo. It inherits the Persona name from rebadged Proton Wira sold in certain countries. It also has been addressed with several main flaws of Gen-2. The most noticeable difference of Persona from other models is the separate, larger boot, making it better suited to the local market. It also has less roofline slopes.
The interior was redesigned to incorporate a glovebox from the dashboard which was not available in Gen-2. The door trims and panels were actually modified to feature more ergonomic window switches and dooor handles. Besides, the pseudo-racing seats were replaced by more conventional and comfortable ones.
It has 1.6 L Campro engine which is the same unit used in other Proton models. Transmission control unit recalibration on models with automatic transmissions reduced the hunt of gears and also improved gear changes.
In 2008, Proton UK announced the new addition of Persona which is known as Proton Gen-2 Persona. It has achieved best model of the year for Frost & Sullivian awards
